Centenarian Cathy Hillock also attributed reaching 102 years old to her charitable work and a healthy diet, but she was convinced that being unmarried was the main cause.
A woman who recently turned 102 has attributed her long life to remaining unmarried and never getting married. At Beechwood Care Home in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Cathy Hillock celebrated her significant birthday in style and shared her best advice for living a long and healthy life.
To celebrate, staff organized a Roaring ’20s-inspired Great Gatsby birthday celebration for Cathy’s family and friends, with both residents and staff dressing to the nines.
Cathy acknowledged other factors, such as her charitable work and a healthy diet, contributed to her longevity, but she insisted that being single played the biggest role.
She remarked, “I believe everything in moderation is the key to a long, happy, and healthy life. I always give generously to charities, I eat and drink well, but probably most importantly, I have never been married.
Beechwood, which is a part of the Holmes Care Group, was glad to go above and above to help Cathy remember the important milestone.
In pictures from the celebration, Cathy can be seen enjoying her special day surrounded by loved ones while sporting a black feather headpiece.
The birthday girl was surrounded by dozens of cards and flowers, and the staff even set up a buffet.
